Big congrats to our Team Champions: Jeff Tepe, Brian Clapp, Kevin Romard, and Joe Quallen coming in 12 under with a score of 59! 🏆🙌🥇

Best Group Costume went to the “Blue Man Group” and Best Individual Costume went to “Chyna”! 🏆🙌🏅

Frank Pascoe had an epic day, not only did he shoot a hole-in-one on 16, he took home the Potato Cannon Split-the-pot!

A huge thank you to Brian, Brett, and the entire Grounds crew for their devilish designs and air-horn fueled revelry, The Grizzly roared with a competition that was both fun and stupendously fierce!

And lastly, but certainly not least thank you to the Pro Shop and F&B Teams for running ops, managing games, making great food, and keeping the whole day on track! We couldn’t have pulled it off without them!! ⛳️

Grizzly golf course Superintendent attains GCSAA Class A Membership Status

 

Recreation Management Services, Inc. is proud to announce golf course Superintendent Brian Pero, has achieved Class A membership status by meeting the standards established by the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA).

Brian has been a Superintendent at Grizzly Golf and Social Lodge since 6-1-21.

GCSAA Class A membership is awarded to members who are currently employed as a golf course superintendent and have met specific requirements in the following categories; formal education, a minimum of 20 hours of continuing education and at least three years of experience as a golf course superintendent. To demonstrate environmental stewardship, Class A members have either provided proof of a valid pesticide application license or have passed the GCSAA Integrated Pest Management examination.

GCSAA Class A status is the preferred membership class of the association, and is a standard for the golf course management profession. Golf facilities employ GCSAA members because of their focus on overall facility success. This is because they understand what constitutes an enjoyable experience for the golfer and what it takes to make a facility financially successful. GCSAA is a leading golf organization and has as its focus golf course management. Since 1926, GCSAA has been the top professional association for the men and women who manage golf courses in the United States and worldwide. From its headquarters in Lawrence, Kan., the association provides education, information and representation to more than 21,000 members in more than 72 countries. We would like to thank everyone who participated in the Opening Day Event on Saturday. Despite the wet conditions, it was a beautiful sunny day and everyone had a great time. Special thanks to Chef Elliott and his kitchen staff for a fantastic lunch, Joe Taulbee for his continued professionalism and great setup and Andrew Morrissey for keeping things neat and clean in the fireplace room during lunch. Memorial Day Special

The month of May provides the opportunity for the Mason community to come together and express gratitude to all the servicemen, women, and their families for the sacrifices they have made to protect our Nation.

As a thank you to our past and present military personnel, The City of Mason is offering a Memorial Day Military Special from May 19th – 26th.

Veterans and active military are welcome to enjoy a free round of golf and a meal during the promotional period. All are encouraged to schedule their round in advance by calling 513.398.7700 ext. 1.

Additionally, all past and present military members are welcome to receive a free meal at The Great 18 Bar & Grill. Reservations are encouraged and can be made by calling 513.398.7700 ext. 3.

RMS announces new brand for the Mason Golf Center as part of The Grizzly’s 50th anniversary celebration.

Cincinnati, OH – Recreation Management Services (RMS) is proud to announce the rebranding of the former City of Mason Golf Center is now complete, as the course has officially become The Grizzly Golf and Social Lodge.

In August of 2021, the City of Mason Council members passed an ordinance for Recreation Management Services, INC (the management company operating the course) to develop a new brand for the course as part of its 50th Anniversary celebration in 2022.

Opened on July 1, 1972, The Grizzly golf course was the third course built by Jack Nicklaus and Desmond Muirhead. Sometimes fierce, sometimes friendly, The Grizzly name was bestowed on the course, forever linking it to Jack Nicklaus and his Golden Bear brand.

Over the last 50 years, the golf complex has undergone a series of name and ownership changes which created challenges when identifying and referring to the course. During the branding process, RMS conducted a brand survey to identity a new name. The Grizzly name stood out as a widely recognized moniker that has a history and legacy that few other courses in the region can claim.

With the goal of establishing the championship course alongside the City of Mason’s other major attractions, the new name places The Grizzly at the forefront of communications. The hand-rendered grizzly bear is a unique design that personifies The Grizzly course and is a subtle nod to Jack Nicklaus’ Golden Bear. The secondary name, the Golf and Social Lodge, promotes all the amenities found on the complex as a gathering spot where community comes together.

I am excited about the new branding along with the City’s capital investments at the course as it increases visibility and breathes new life into this community asset. I encourage all residents to check out all the changes happening at The Grizzly. The patio is a great location to enjoy an evening with family and friends this summer.

Founded in 1972, The Grizzly has hosted many of the major professional tours in the United States, including the PGA Tour, LPGA Tour Championship, Kroger Senior Classic – Senior PGA Tour, and LPGA Futures Tour.
