
Registration & Tee Times
- All Golfers must register with the Pro Shop before beginning play. Only registered golfers are allowed on the course.
- All persons holding a membership must stop in the Pro Shop to register for play and sign for a cart. For evening play, golfers must call the Pro Shop if wanting to start on any hole other than #1.
- Tee reservations may be made 10 days in advance.
- Tee reservations may be made by phone, online, or in the Pro Shop.
- Golfers with starting times must be paid, ready, and report to the Pro Shop at least 10 minutes prior to the tee reservation or may result in delayed tee time.
- Any cancellations should be made at least 24 hours before the scheduled tee time.
Walk-On Times
- Walk-on times will be assigned from the names on the waiting list.
- Each person may obtain a maximum of one walk-on time.
Practicing
- Golfers are to use the designated practice areas only, such as the driving range and practice putting green.
- Under no circumstances are the regular tees, greens, or fairways to be used for practice
Golf Rules of Play
- Each golfer must have a receipt from the cashier.
- Each golfer must have a bag and clubs.
- USGA Rules govern all play.
- Play “ready golf.” Be prepared for each shot and keep up with the group directly ahead. Par time is 2 1/4 hours for 9 holes and 4 1/2 hours for 18 holes. Approximately 15 minutes per hole.
- 18-hole players should break for only five minutes upon completion of the front nine. A longer break could result in the loss of access to the #10 tee.
- Ball crossing road on holes 8 & 9 is out of bounds.
- Ball striking high tension wires must be replayed, no penalty.
- Golfers shall not hit into the group ahead.
- Fivesomes or more are not permitted on the golf course at any time.
- Holes must be played in sequence.
- Players should not hit until the players in front are out of range.
- The Pro Shop will group golfers into foursomes whenever possible.
- Playing more than one golf ball per golfer is not permitted on the golf course.
- The Grizzly Golf and Social Lodge is not responsible for injuries on the golf course. Play is at your own risk.
- The golfer is responsible for any damage or bodily harm caused by the ball or club, or to rental equipment.
Pace of Play
- The course is a “Ready-Golf” facility.
- To better enhance the enjoyment of all our Guests, the course will require all groups to follow “Ready Golf’ guidelines and maintain an average of 15 – minutes per hole (4:30 max total pace.)
- A group maybe be asked to close the gap or skip a hole in the event it falls behind pace of play.
- If a group fails to close the gap within two or more holes behind the group in front, they will be asked to skip a hole or move to the appropriate place on the golf course.
- If a group continues to remain off pace, they will be asked to cease play and return to the club house to receive a rain check for the portion of the round they did not complete.
Golf Course Care / Maintenance
- Replace divots, repair ball marks and rake sand traps.
- Guest must repair all ball and spike marks they create on greens.
- Guests should make use of the sand and seed mixture on the golf cart to fill divots in the fairways and tees.
- Guests should always keep carts at least thirty (30) feet from all tees and greens.
- Guests should smooth sand in all bunkers and waste areas and prevent unnecessary damage to the course by removing divots when taking practice swings or by hitting the head of a club into the ground for any reason.
- Guests should ensure that no damage is done to the putting green when setting down bags or the flagstick.
Severe Weather Policy
- We have a severe Weather Warning System which alerts automatically.
- One long tone signals severe weather in the area, guest should take cover.
- Two short tones indicate weather threat has passed.
Rain Checks / Weather
- During severe weather, lightning or thunder, players are not permitted to start.
- If inclement weather causes players to cancel the round, players are eligible for a refund if they have not started. Once players have started, they are eligible for a rain check only.
- Rain checks will be issued on a prorated basis.
Golf Carts and Pull Carts
- Golf course carts shall be paid for in the Pro Shop and assigned by the Cart Barn at time of registration.
- All golfers must obtain a receipt from the Pro Shop for golf cart usage.
- Only golf carts owned by The Grizzly Golf and Social Lodge are permitted to use on the course. Privately owned golf carts are not permitted.
- Golf carts are restricted for use on the golf course, practice areas, driving range, club house, and parking lots.
- No golf cars shall be removed from the course grounds at any time without prior approval from the Head Golf Professional or General Manager.
- Golfers shall not attach anything to the golf cart using tape or any type of adhesive.
- Golf carts shall be operated only by persons with a valid automobile driver’s license and 18 years of age or above. Proper I.D. must be shown upon request.
- No more than two (2) persons and two (2) sets of golf clubs per golf cart are permitted.
- Carts must be kept at least 30 feet from the greens at all times, unless golfer has a disability flag.
- Golf cart traffic and directional signs must be obeyed at all times
- Cart drivers are liable for any damage or bodily harm caused by the cart, and to the cart.
- Golf carts must remain on the paths on all par 3 holes
- Hand carts must be kept off greens, collars and tees.
- All carts must be returned to Cart Barn by dusk.
- Golf carts are operated at the risk of the operator. The cost of repairing any damage to the golf carts or the golf course resulting from improper operation will be charged to the individual playing at the time the damage occurs.
- Violation of these golf cart rules may result in immediate suspension of playing privileges and ejection from the golf course.
Cart Paths
- The Superintendent may declare the course “unplayable” because of frost, heavy rains or other severe conditions. No player may subsequently begin or resume a round until the course is declared to be playable by course Superintendent.
- The Superintendent will communicate cart rule of the day to Pro Shop. Under wet or soft conditions, power carts may be required to remain on the path.
- Carts may be on the paths at all times or carts may scatter if no restrictions for the day.
- All neighbors should refrain from using cart paths from daylight to dark. Running, walking and bicycling are permitted on cart paths only when the course is closed and is at the person’s own risk.
Dress Code
- Shirts must be worn at all times. Sleeves and collars are recommended on men’s shirts; ladies may wear a sleeveless, collared golf shirt. Tank tops, tube tops, halter tops, mesh shirts or similar attire are not permitted.
- Slacks, skirts, skorts, or mid-length shorts (minimum length 16 inches) must be worn at all times. (swimming attire, short-shorts, cutoffs, jogging suits, sweat pants and similar attire are not permitted.)
- Proper footwear must be worn at all times. (Metal spikes, high heels, sharp heels, lug shoes, knobby rubber spikes or shoes deemed harmful to the golf course are not permitted.)
Alcoholic Beverages
- Only alcoholic beverages purchased from the facility are permitted on the golf course. This will be strictly enforced. Personal coolers are permitted with the caveat that golf course staff may check coolers if it is believed alcohol is being brought onto the course.
Parking / Traffic
- Overnight parking is not allowed without written permission of the course.
- Area traffic and parking signs are to be observed at all times, including posted speed limits.
- Vehicles in unauthorized areas may be towed at owner’s expense.
- All Guests must drive and park motor vehicles within designated areas in accordance with applicable laws and posted regulations.
- Parking in the parking lot area is undertaken at the driver’s own risk.
- Bicycles, motorbikes, all-terrain vehicles, etc., including roller blades, scooters, skateboards, etc., are not permitted on the golf course, cart paths, or driving range at any time.
Safety
- All Guests are responsible for their own safety.
- Guests who are intoxicated by drugs or alcohol, including prescription drugs, must discontinue play and may not operate golf carts.
- Golfers should ensure that no one is standing in a position to be hit by the club, the ball, or any debris when they make a stroke or practice swing.
- Golfers should not play until the players in front are out of range.
- Guests should always alert maintenance personnel nearby or ahead when they are about to make a stroke that might endanger them.
- If a Guest plays a ball in a direction where there is a danger of hitting someone they are required to immediately shout a warning. The traditional word of warning in such situations is “fore.”
Ponds & Wildlife
- No guests on the confines of golf course property shall fish, hunt, injure, or disturb wildlife.
Accidents or Injuries
- All accidents or incidents involving guest must be immediately reported to the Pro Shop.
- An incident report will be drafted to document any accident or liability issue.
- Reports will be provided to the City of Mason within 24 hours.
Neighboring Homes / Out of Bounds
- Golf Course property includes the golf course, clubhouse, driving range, parking lots, and all surrounding property marked by out of bounds stakes.
- Players are allowed to cross designated crosswalks to continue play on adjoining holes.
- Golfers should be aware of out of bound markers.
- If a ball is hit into a neighbor’s yard, it is considered out of bounds, and you should play another ball.
- If you hit and damage a house or other personal property, is it proper to leave a note or contact the clubhouse so you can recompense the owners.
Damages
- All Guests are solely responsible for damage to course buildings, equipment, and neighboring properties; including damages incurred by errant balls, golf carts, golf clubs and other golf equipment. Guests are solely responsible, financially, and monetarily, for reimbursement of all such damages incurred.
- Guests will be solely responsible for personal injuries inflicted by errant balls or golf cars, etc. Guests are solely responsible financially for compensation of any accidents they cause (either on purpose or accidentally.)
- Guests are required to immediately report damages and injuries to personnel in the Pro Shop.
Violations / Rule Infringement
- Violations of State of Ohio Law, City of Mason ordinances, Golf Course rules and regulations, rudeness, assault, or unacceptable behavior towards the golf staff or other Guests may result in immediate revocation of golf privileges, expulsion from the course.
- Violation details are recorded by course management and serious incidents are reported to City of Mason officials and provided to Mason Police Department.
