Hourly: $15 – $18 per hour, depending upon skills and experience
This position performs manual labor of more than ordinary difficulty that often involves the use of acquired skill and does related work as required. This work calls for the use of some skills acquired by experience or on-the-job instruction. Requires more than usual physical strength and endurance. A maintenance worker normally works under the supervision of Maintenance Supervisor. Employee is required to be able to complete tasks with limited supervision. Employees in this class may be assisted by one or more grounds crew workers.
Responsibilities
- Performs a variety of semi-skilled tasks including building, ground maintenance, and painting
- Assists in the maintenance and operations of the City of Mason Golf Course and associated facilities as assigned
- Handles and uses hand tools and power tools including chainsaw, gas-powered weedwhacker
- Cuts down and removes trees, uses wood-chipper
- Performs litter control
- Drives trucks or car to obtain supplies and samples
- Drives light tractors and mowing equipment
- Digs, spreads, and levels dirt, gravel, mulch etc.
- Pulls weeds and maintains flower beds
- Lifts, carries and holds building materials, tools, and supplies
Qualifications
- High school diploma or its equivalent
- Possess a valid Ohio Driver’s license and maintained a good driving record
- Some Knowledge of semi-skilled maintenance and manual tasks
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to read and write legibly
- Ability to perform heavy manual work for an extended period under varying weather conditions
- Available for scheduled and emergency overtime
- Ability to complete tasks with limited supervision
- Must be able to work eight consecutive hours in changing outdoor conditions. Exposed to dust, pollen, and environments associated with outdoor labor
Physical Requirements
- Excellent physical condition – able to bend, lift objects of 70 lbs. or greater routinely
- Visual acuity to distinguish from short and long distances
- Auditory actuity to hear the radio or communication from fair distances
- Manual dexterity to operate equipment, manipulate small objects
- Able to operate efficiently in dramatic climates
